Can you help me decide how to top this tall/narrow table?
Salvage the top somehow?
Just get a board and cut it down, add a margin?
Some other inexpensive approach?

Theresa Shaut on Apr 03, 2013You need to apply some kind of heat to remove laminate: http://decorandthedog.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-to-remove-veneer-or-laminate-from.html OR http://voices.yahoo.com/removing-laminate-counter-topping-5020576.htmlHelpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Apr 03, 2013@Cory McConnell have a look at @Ashley @ Domestic Imperfection post on the floor she did with brown paper bags - amazing. Many comments on using in other areas like tables. I just did a bookshelf just waiting to polyurethane. After staining the results is very intriguing. May work for your table top. All you need is elmer's glue, water and brown craft paper - takes a stain wonderfully and easy to do. Outside of that you could use reclaimed wood - old fence boards or pallets - to build a table top, sand and stain. Please post your after pic. Thanks for posting.Helpful Reply

Lyn Therese on Feb 26, 2016Try using heat to remove the laminate part of the wood. Then finely sand the top. Now you can decide what to use on the wood. If the wood is too long, cut it to size but use the wood as a base and than use your imagination. You can do it!Helpful Reply
