Silver Trays in Our New Dining Room

When we moved into our new to us house in our new town in our new state, I decided to use old silver and silver plated trays on our dining room wall. I feel really good about that decision after seeing HGTV's dream home reveal last week. They displayed silver trays over a bed.
I have always thought that silver in a room is like jewelry. It adds a little sparkle and is a hard-working accessory. If you purchase them at flea markets, antique malls, and garage sales, they are usually a bargain. I polished them when I hung them, but now I will let them tarnish and enjoy the patina.
We have made a lot of progress on our dining room since moving in. We have painted the walls, trim, and ceiling and have added custom-made plantation shutters. We want to change out the light next and trade the hutch for a buffet.
The trays look good from any angle and were easy to hang using 3M Command strips. My plan is to cover that entire wall with the trays.
Although the room is still a work in progress, we are pleased with the progress we have made. To see more, please visit our blog.

Darlene Couch on Jan 15, 2017after polishing my silver trays. I sprayed them with a clear varnish. This way They will always maintain their luster. Of course I don't intend to use them with food. But you actually could if you line them with doilies are seran wrap.
