Keeping your pantry organized and functional is hard! Keeping a small pantry organized and functional is nearly impossible if you live with 16yr old son and a husband that over buys at the grocery store.
Because of unfortunate circumstances this past year, my pantry wasn't a priority.

Sharon Huneycutt Harris on Jan 18, 2016I did something like this last year. I've been married over 38 yrs and all my old plastic containers probably had BPA's and I figured it was time for me to toss the old plastic containers and canisters and replace with new. So I re-did all my canisters and pantry items with either glass (as in Mason jars, etc) or BPA free plastic. Even got rid of any Tupperware that was older than 5 years ago IF IT STORES FOOD. I kept my Tupperware that is used just for serving but if food sits in it for a length of time, I replaced it. For instance, I don't have a problem with using a mixing bowl to stir up a cake, but if my salad is going to sit in it for a few days, then I replaced it. I also learned, the hard way, the new Pyrex or similar glass, is made differently now than it was. And it shatters much more easily. So I look out for older glass bakeware, storage or mixing bowls instead of the new. I love pieces that have their lids.
