What era is this table from? Is it an antique?

I am trying to figure out if this is an antique or just a home made table? Stumped, I have looked for something similar with no results. Please help!!!! Thank you.

I'm thinking a home design, but the design looks to be somewhere between mid 60's and early 70's.. Just a guess...

Looks to be 60's at the earliest, not an antique since to meet antique criteria a piece must be 100 years old. The wood or joints are not that old. I have seen several similar tables from that era but this one is more unique, if you see no makers marks it is likely home made. In any case it is a fun piece.

I doubt if this is handmade, looks more like Art Deco style, especially with the inlaid wire or metal on the rails and the small half round shelf, Are there any markings on the underside? Would you say the wood is walnut? looks kind of like that in the pic would say "vintage" rather than antique..My .02

I think it could be both. My grandfather used to make furniture at home and this reminds me of that "style". He made plant stands and side tables for outside. This looks like some great dad saw a plan for a home made desk and implemented the plan. My bet it was in a child's room. So, I think it's bothe. Good for you to have been lucky to have it.

Look under neath top and underneath very bottom shelf, if it is really old will have a stamp mark some times says company and year made. If not there than most likely retro ( 50-60-70's). Stamping started in early 1900's, before that yes they were antique just not stamped.

I sell pieces so I try to be as correct as possible for the buyer. If you go to Ebay you will find complaints from people buying mis labeled pieces. If you are going to sell or research value as accurately as possible, terminology is key. If I look for art deco vs art nouveau I may find similar items true, but if I want to best represent the piece as a seller I need to be as correct as possible. Most people call a piece what ever they choose, By definition antique is 100 years old according to industry standards, US customs, and most "experts' which I am not. I sometimes refer to an item in the 1920's or 30's loosely as antique, items in the 50's and 60's as mid century or mid mod, kitchy collectibles as retro, and vintage with the nearest date possible. Many pieces fall under more than one category that is true, but forgive me if I hold to the 100 year term over mid century as antique.
