Gail Salminen on Apr 15, 2013@Bonnie G For indoor plants you could pick a day and water on those days, for instance Satudays before shopping or refinishing furniture or crafting or what ever other regular activity you do. Next you may want to investigate which ones only need water occassionally like cactus (sometimes once a month will do. Too much water will rot them from the bottom up. You should assess what rooms they are in and consider moving if it is not in a room you frequently enter. If you see a plant every day it will talk to you - droopy leaves mean 'I am thirsty'. I have one in the dining room that I often forget, LOL but fortunately it is in the succulent family so is forgiving. Hope this helps. PS most indoor plant growers loose a pot now and then. Good luck!Helpful Reply

Bonnie G on Apr 15, 2013@Gail Salminen -- thank you for your advice! Those are all great tips! I'm better about indoor plants-- it's the outdoor ones that throw me off! But maybe I could pick a day to water them like you said! Thank you :)Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Apr 15, 2013@Bonnie G for outdoor plants it is a matter of listening to them - droopy means water me. If you know3 the weather has been hot and no rain, water. I use a mixture of soil and the product miricale grow produces to retain water when I plant them - helps a lot expecially in pots, which I have a lot of on the deck. Rule of thumb - hot day - water plants, doesn't matter what time of day you water them, morning, afternoon, or night is ok when you have the time. My deck plants give me a clue as to when to water. I find the best plants for pots are geraniums, alysum, impatiens (but I hear the new guinea impatiens is best for your area) all very forgiving plants and they yell when they need water LOL In my gardens I have a lot of flowering shrubs and perennials which are also forgiving, my favourite is the hydrangea, but there are also a lot of others that flower at various times and the succulent groudcover plants. Maybe ask you local nursery for advice.Helpful Reply
