Cleaning is of course, an essential part of any persons' regular routine. It doesn't matter whether you are talking of a home or a commercial establishment, cleaning is very important.
You not only have to keep a place clean but ensure that it’s presentable in order to impress anyone who walks in. It seems easy but the actual process involves not only effort but also a lot of patience. To add to this, only the right equipment will ensure that cleaning the house can be done fast and easy.

One of the most important things to be used for cleaning is a mop. Now, mops are of several kinds, you have the wet mop, the dry mop and a miracle wet mop called the spin mop. While they are all mops, the purpose for which they are utilized may differ from mop to mop. Some are used to simply sweep up the dust in order to make it settle while others may be used to dust and sweep.

Do you know of the history of mops? No, they are not a recent invention designed to aid modern lives. In fact, some or the other form of it was always available as early as the end of the nineteenth century. Thomas J. Steward can be credited with the invention of the wet yarn mop in the year 1893; this mop was later modified by adding a wringing mechanism in about 1950.

Why Maps and how they are designed?

Whether it is a yarn or a cotton mop, mops are designed to make cleaning easier. This is particularly helpful since the person sweeping does not have to bend down and incur any kind of discomfort.

The basic mechanism of a mop is a non-detachable or detachable mop head at the bottom of a long aluminium or plastic rod or frame. Nowadays, a number of inventions such as the spin mop and bucket etc. have been discovered making wringing the mops much easier.

Let us take a look at the different mops as well as the different materials used for mop heads:

Dry mops- A dry mop is essentially used for some light dusting and to ensure that excess water on porches, floors, bathroom tiles etc. can be dried up. A dry mop has the basic functions of a duster or a broom. The difference here is that a dry mop allows a person to clean the dust off their floors without leaving any type of scratches or even making dust fly in the air like what a broom does.

Wet mops- There are a number of benefits of using a wet mop. Most of these reasons include the fact that spills can be mopped up with it, any kind of mud or dirt can be cleaned and stubborn stains can be worked out off the floor.

There are a number of materials used to create mop heads including sponge, yarn and cotton. However, cotton mops are the best when it comes to effective cleaning.
