It's all in the details...

use accent lighting to add that special touch in unexpected places. Note in the photo the use of sconces each side of the hood and matching rectangular fixture over the Baker's island.

The sconces on either side of the hood are attractive but the width of the hood blocks the light from reaching the workspace below. Seems a bit impractical.

I would hate to pay the electric bill with so many lights in one room... Yikes, I sure don't call this energy conservation!

@ Sue D the lights are not designed for lighting the "workspace" the are for ambient lighting also known as accent lighting.

@ M. Gary N all the lights are on dimmers. You can turn the lights down or up as needed. The dimmers help to conserve energy and you don't have to turn on all the lights at the same time. And yes, there are under cabinet lights that are LED as well as in the ceiling fixtures. ...»

As always... Beautiful work Tim! And welcome to HomeTalk!

Ambient lighting... Sometimes a hard sell with budget, but never a disappointment ... The reward is surely rich here, would love to see this space in the evening hours.

Hi Tim, Good to see you here on Hometalk. For quality photos, I know that every light needs to be on. What you have designed is a lot of versatility to set many moods in this wonderful kitchen. Knowing your attention to detail, you also have dimmers on every one. This kitchen will work for a whole family party making dinner all the way to an intimate gathering for two. I would give anything for that magnificent back splash.

Tim, This is the best kitchen I've seen on Hometalk, do you have befores, quite sure that would show the appreciation for the detail here. The stove, cobalt blue is stunning, the moulding, countertops, fixtures amazing, love, love, love the marble! I'm salivating! From one Artisan to another BRAVO. AND YOU CAN NEVER, EVER HAVE TO MUCH LIGHTING!!!!!

Hi Faidra, thank you for the nice compliments. I have attached a before photo of the same wall. We added on to the house to expand the space out 12' to the right of where the old hood and cook top are in this photo.
    • Before Photo of the range wall. Before the ovens, refrigerator, and cook top were all on the same wall. Note the change in the door height it was 80" I changed it to an arch top to compliment the arches in the design and raised it up to 108"
    • This wall was pushed out 12' to accommodate the new kitchen floor plan. I also added an arch transom over the existing window once it was re-installed.
    • This is the same view with the window in its new position.

Beautifully designed down to every last detail. I most definitely would use every ounce of cooking creativity I could muster up to keep in line with such a kitchen!

WOW! I could really do some cooking in your kitchen. Perhaps a little stencil design on the hood or a monogram would be nice. Your lighting ideas are outstanding!
