Oh NUTS those ground Squirrels! What to do?

We have an attached garage, and in back yard behind it we have a large acorn tree and then our workshop garage. Ground squirrels gather the nuts and take them in the back garage and eat and nest. With that being said I can not store anything with any type of stuffing/material because that is what they use for their bedding. What do I get to stop them from going in there? They do not go in the front garage I believe because we are in there daily.

I've never met a squirrel that didn't like to hide in a shed! Consider placing your cushions, etc in tightly covered Rubbermaid containers and stacking them atop each other. I doubt those squirrels would be able to open the containers to nest. To repel them, you should contact your local pest control agency. They may have suggestions for natural repellents but my guess is your shed is a perfect spot to snuggle in for the winter. Best of luck!

Buy some pure peppermint oil, not food grade, and soak cotton balls with it. Place the cotton balls all in your garage. You can order the oil online.

@Zebbie Hardy I am not a fan of animals in the house, but there are a couple of feral cats that hang out around the house, and keep the rodent population in check. Yeah our winters are not bad compared to Yalls.
