Adventures in Dumpster Diving: Original Marsh Cabinet

Every once in a while, my husband will climb in a dumpster and bring back a gem! This original Marsh Cabinet is one of them. It was in pieces, but with a little glue, some braces, reclaimed wood and paint, it's now a stunner!
Marsh Cabinet renewal
Finished and in the booth!
We don't really have any "before" photos, as this was mostly in pieces. The enamel top was gone (we believe the cabinet was taken apart just to salvage the top) and only the drawers and doors were intact. The new top is of reclaimed white pine.
The original hardware was still on the piece, including the emblem that identifies it as a Marsh, which is local to our area and still in business.
We gave it a coat of black enamel, with accents of off white. The original was an off-white with a warm undertone, and we tried to match it as closely as possible.
We were incredibly fortunate that the glass doors were still intact and they still had their original decorative paint!!

Beautiful! My dad refurbished antiques and found many treasures at the city dump. It's surprising what people throw away. It sounds creepy, but for me as a kid, it was like going on a treasure hunt with him. One day he found a ten dollar bill which was like finding a thousand dollars back then . . . lol

I hear what you're saying! My parents were creative re-purposers too...back in the '60s, before it was cool. Thanks for your nice comment!
