1960's maple wardrobe from Salvation Macy's.

This piece is painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint and has clear and dark wax applied. I show how I did this piece on my blog: http://theemptynest-janet.blogspot.com/

I love the painted flowers! Would you share your secret for the distressed painting? It's something I've wanted to do with a wooden picture frame.

Thanks everyone...Terry, this piece is painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint and has clear and dark wax applied. The dark wax is what you see as a glaze.

@Melissa...I show how I did this piece on my blog

Annie's chalk paint distresses like a dream..comes off in a fine powder and that's how I get the authentic 'time worn' look. Fabulous stuff!

You have given me a great idea for decorating an old dresser and chest of drawers. Would just about any home improvement store carry the chalk paint? I never heard of that before.

No Terri...you can only buy it from a stockist. Here is a website to hopefully find one near you www.anniesloanunfolded.com Annie Sloan, the creator of this product, is very serious about selling through local artisans only..no big box stores or chain paint stores.

When I first saw these pictures, I thought you refinished the old blue piece of furniture into the clean wooden piece but it took a little while to figure out you did the opposite. Nice job

you can make chalk paint too. waaaaayeee cheaper. just add plaster of Paris and a few drops of hot water to what ever paint you have.

sorry Stephanie, but that is just LATEX paint with stuff in it...and toxic stuff at that! Plaster of Paris is nasty stuff..read the label. Chalk Paint ® decorative paint by Annie Sloan has no latex and is wonderfully smooth, fabulous and much more pigmented than wall paint. I'm guessing you have never tried the real stuff, because if you have you would know what I am talking about. Treat yourself and buy a little sample jar.......you will love it!
