I think Valentine's Day is so fun to decorate for! My daughters love it too, so that's an even better reason for us to go all out when it comes to decorating our home for V-Day. I made this sweet heart bunting banner a couple of years ago, and it's a decor staple every February in our home.
I love to hang it on our mantel for a pop of rainbow-y colour.
To make this banner, you need minimal crochet skills and scraps of colourful yarn. I used some cotton yarn leftover from a blanket project.
Crochet 5 hearts each in 6 different colours using the simple directions found here: http://saltforthespirit.blogspot.ca/2009/02/itty-bitty-crochet-heart-tutorial.html

Then, with a contrasting yarn, chain 10, [SC in the top middle of the right side one heart, chain 3, SC in the top middle of the left side of the same heart, chain 5], repeat pattern in brackets until you've crocheted all of the hearts together. Chain 5. Your simple heart bunting is complete!
SO easy and cute, right? I think this would also be simply adorable to hang in a nursery or toddler's bedroom all year round.
