4 Surprising Items You Can Clean in a Washing Machine

Did you know you can wash these four items in your washing machine?
In the past, I've talked about surprising things you can wash in your dishwasher. The episode was so popular that I thought I would extend that line of thought and do another about what you can wash in your washing machine. We all know that clothes, towels, and sheets can go into the washing machine, but there are many other items around our homes that can also be cleaned inside it. I'm going to give you instructions on how to clean some of my favorite things in the washing machine.
1.) Stuffed Animals
2.) Plastic Toys
3.) Shower Curtains and Shower Liners
4.) Tennis Shoes
While you can wash a number of other items in the washing machine, these four are the ones that most people don't know about. When I tell people these tricks, they are often pleasantly surprised to find out how much more life they can get out of the items they use on a regular basis by cleaning them in the washing machine.
What is your biggest trick for cleaning items in a washing machine? I'd love to hear how you clean up using your washer too! Leave your tips and tricks on my Facebook page, or in the comment section below.

Lisa Stewart on Feb 29, 2016I have custom silk-poly shantung draperies that I tried to have drycleaned for twelve years. Because of the silk braid trim and antique brass rings, no drycleaner would touch them. Out of desperation, I threw them in the washer with Woolite on the cold gentle cycle, and then hung them on the rods to dry. They came out beautifully! I was to the point that I was going to donate them because they needed to be cleaned and no one would clean them, so it was a chance worth taking, and now they look AND SMELL new. Phew! They were very expensive when first made, and replacing them is out of my budget right now. Another thing I have recently washed in the machine with fantastic results is old duffel bags and soft luggage. They, too, have come out looking new.

Martha Hinkle on Feb 29, 2016This is how we wash (and sanitize!) toys in our church nursery! If they're small, put them in a zippered garment bag to keep them from falling through the rack.
