My Newly Recycled Dining Room Table.
by

I wanted a farmhouse table and didn't want to pay a fortune for it. I made a new top for my old varnished table out of 1x6x8 corral boards for $18.
The finished product. I made my own wood filler from the sanding dust and wood glue, filled the cracks and stained with stain I made from vinegar and steel wool. I sanded with fine paper 120 grit and waxed it down with wood wax. Now to get it into the house, it's much heavier!
This is after sanding. I had walking pneumonia and the dust was killing me even with a mask on. I found deglosser and rubbed it down, much easier.
After sanding, using deglosser and then 2 coats of home made chalk paint. After painting I sanded to distress and waxed.
This is what the old top looked like. Not pretty at all.
