Annie Sloan's brand new color..Antoinette...a gorgeous muted pink. I call it a pink for grown up gals!

Love it. Is that Paris Grey, my personal favorite?

Did you prime the tray? If not how many coats of pink did it take? I took Patty's workshop - loved it - love her.

Thanks Shabby..NO...I NEVER prime..don't need to with Annie's paints. I applied 2 coats and I crackled the insert. I'll post a closeup of the crackling. No crackle medium needed with these paints...they are truly fabulous!!

I painted Coco for the trim then clear wax and dark..and buff.

    • love how the crackling grabs the dark wax...great texture!

:-) Not to prime is counterintuitive for me. I've been using AS for a few weeks - I did my first non primed piece today. It covered very well. I was really pleased but I did a light over light color. I like the crackle on your tray. I tried it too. I liked the crackle but I still not a big fan of the dark wax. I feel like I'm getting a dirty look. I guess I need to keep practicing.

Shabby, I've heard that you should use the clear wax first, then the dark so that the paint doesn't grab too much. I've been using the paint, but haven't used the wax. I'm still using poly and glaze since I already had it. Just tried milk paint, too, and I'm kinda' loving it. Supposedly you don't have to put any top coat at all on it.

Sheila I've been dying to try milk paint. Where did you get it? I really love the waxed finish but it's hard (the wax that is) and not easy to work with. I did a piece today using Howard's Feed and Wax with a big scoop of AS dark wax mixed in. It's on a dark walnut stained finish so it doesn't look dirty. If I don't get the beautiful sheen I'll put a coat of AS clear on it. The Howard's is soft and the AS is firm so mixed it was a nice consistency. Tomorrow I'll be trying Howard's mixed ...»
with stain over lightly distressed Duck Egg. I read about this idea recently. Was it on your blog? Sounds good, wax and stain together.

I haven't tried the wax at all yet. I got the milk paint on Amazon, from General Finishes. A quart is around $19. There is another brand on there, but it's in powder form. I've only used it on a little bit of trim on a table, so can't really say how it'll do on a large surface, but it seemed to go on smoother than the chalk paint. Everyone has their preferences, though.
