2013 Vegetable planting

I am going to plant eggplant this year in my garden. I have no experience with eggplants. I have chosen this one and just wondering if anyone knows how many fruits I might get per plant. Just trying to plan how many plants I need.

Thanks Doug. I was going to start seed inside. I will look at the packet again to see if I missed the yeild somewhere. OBTW- I set my rose plants out the other day when it nearly reached 50 degrees. The leaves that were curling look much better - but I had to bring them back inside, as by the end of the day it was snowing again. I lost two buds in all the moving around, but will definitely enjoy the 3 that are still in place. :0)

When It first starts growing I have a tin can with both ends cut out and put it over the plant to protect it from flea bettles. When it gets bigger they aren't so much a problem. Be sure to take the tin can off. I use our extension center. Your City should have one you can access also for growing guides. I have grown egg plant. I didn't do so well last year but we had a drought and I was fone for 2 weeks, but normally I have never had a problem. You also need to harden your starts. To harden them you put them out each day for a little while. I won't put mine out until later in may. Right now I have my spring plants growing. Since spring started really late it is a guess if I get any before its time to put in my summer garden. Great Luck! Enjoy!
