How to hang short curtain panels in bay cove
I need to figure out a way to hang sheer curtains on a 3 panel bay window cove. I plan to have 4 stationery curtain panels between the Windows. The 2 sides are 17" and the 2 middle sections are 8". The top of the blinds/Windows go right to the ceiling of the bay cove. The sides are not so much an issue as the two middle sections. Any ideas on how to creatively hang such short panels?

MN Mom on Feb 02, 2016Hi Mary Ann I have a similar window in my dining room. Although I don't have blinds as you do, I did decide to put up a valance. I used a small tension rod which extends the width of each window. The curtain pocket conceals the rods. I treated each window individually. If you have the option of removing the headers on your blinds, that may create enough room at the top of each window to insert the tension rod.Helpful Reply

Tjn4356782 on Feb 02, 2016Have done this before, used 22mm copper pipe bent to the shape.....where joining pipe use reduced dowel internally secured with mastic. Hold up with stand off copper fittings. One either end, and one at its centre. Transpose bay sizes and angles with masking tape to a flat floor and use this for bending pipe. Etc, easier. Good luckHelpful Reply

KatAych on Feb 02, 2016You can screw eye hooks or cup holder hooks to hold a wooden dowel for your sheers. Easy and cheap!Helpful Reply

Kathy Sijan on Feb 03, 2016I would put up a cafe rod on each section. Make sure the rods will extend out from the wall enough so it doesn't touch the blind headrail. I would mount up high, so it covers the blind headrail. Not sure it would look right to expose them and mount lower.Helpful Reply

9530106 on Feb 03, 2016I hope I am not stating the obvious, but they do make curtain rods for bay windows. You may have enough wall space in between the windows to install them. :)Helpful Reply

LD on Feb 03, 2016As C_ann_g stated there are curtain rods made for bay windows. Here is a link to pics of windo treatments for bay windows: http://www.google.com/search?q=bay+window+curtain+rod&prmd=sivn&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&fir=JpdfQPipvrI-zM%253A%252Cp6ugtom5B-iITM%252C_%253B_Ey4D6ZJ49MA2M%253A%252Cho0JkAVsztlFqM%252C_%253BEjOUxiYeQj7j1M%253A%252C4XcYbqm6tvjnWM%252C_%253BB1qolD9ojQ0cqM%253A%252C0ffh3HU-P0Z7UM%252C_%253B4hBIGaErT_dF1M%253A%252C7Fo26N98Np4yUM%252C_%253Bc2A1psZvDW2MxM%253A%252CLXAmwW7u-XudJM%252C_%253BBym4LLJuKRUlfM%253A%252CtPlMJLQgBAJJ_M%252C_%253Bji0FdQ48MJy0-M%253A%252CYuW38E1PWQXAXM%252C_%253BFSta0csiD4OKWM%253A%252C9IUAppZ8aYAK3M%252C_%253Bduo2PkVhFbkRDM%253A%252Cu2ldlKmFTP0ChM%252C_&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi-pcab49zKAhVD1mMKHf9nBAUQ7AkIWw&biw=640&bih=400&usg=__BW2SW7GCMEHEwgm5cOEZCJB-LD0%3DHelpful Reply

Swan Road Designs on Feb 03, 2016I encountered the same problem with a bay window in a home I had. I was going to hang lace panels and needed the rod to be invisible. What I did was screw white cup hooks in the ceiling of the bay area, then threaded the panels on a heavy-duty clear tubing I purchased at my area home center. The tubing was about the diameter of the cup hook. I "snapped" the tubing into the cup hooks and arranged the panels.Helpful Reply

Cherieclark on Feb 03, 2016You can use the old fashion springs for the sheers inside the frame. Two eyelets and the spring attaches to the eyehooks. Then find the curtain rods made especially for bay windows since you have the wall space for the mounts. Or use regular clear curtain rods that fit the measurements. Another option is put your sheers or lace panels on the inside of the bay window panels. Now where the wall is at a straight edge [before you get into the bay window-called the heading] you can put up regular curtains or drapes instead of having curtains or drapes on the inside of the bay windows. It's another option all together and makes for very regal look.Helpful Reply
