Duv310660 on Feb 07, 2016Certainly covering them with colour will make them less noticable. If there are torn edges that need smoothing, experiment carefully with washable white glue; if the surface is not shiny enough, try a layer of wax that you buff to a similar shine or a layer of mod podge after testing it elsewhere. Various oil based stains for wood in felt-tip form will disappear edges and lines. Use oil products on top of water-based to keep your make-over in place. Prevention is the key. Bubblewrap, foil or tapes found in pet stores might help. Keep nails short; provide alternatives and regular, active play. Some cats prefer handwoven rugs or sisal; you can get a small one and rub a spot with catnip.Helpful Reply

Judy72649 on Feb 07, 2016In my shop I use an electric hair trimmetr to cut off all the raised leather then I use a high quality keathwer cleaner, like Miguiars Gold, applied with a soft cotton cloith. Be sure to test on a small area first. Works very well.Helpful Reply

Kit on Feb 07, 2016After giving up worrying about my leather furniture ( it is older) my cats had done a number on the corners. While talking to other people with cats and leather furniture and a furniture salesman....the problem was revealed. My leather furniture is leather only on parts that touch the body. So the sides are not real leather and cats are attracted to it. People with all leather furniture tell me they have no problems with their cats scratching it. So when it comes time to replace...I will invest in all leather. Wish I had known that the first time.Helpful Reply

Jan Schafer on Feb 07, 2016I used shoe polish and it worked wonders in covering shallow scratches. As the sofa continued to age and the dogs continued to be hard on it, I resorted to leather paint. I painted it on and then rubbed the paint in. Both approaches helped to extend the life of a long time favorite sofa for several extra years.Helpful Reply

MN Mom on Feb 07, 2016Contact a furniture store near you. They may have leather repair kits similar to the furniture wood scratch kits that are available. You could also try leather wipes for shoes.Helpful Reply

Lee Govan on Feb 08, 2016Hi Sandy, I had the same misfortune with mine (red in colour) only with my cat it was getting up onto the arms and sadly sometimes missing! I had a specialist come in to repair it because it proved difficult to match the red. It took them about an hour to fix around 37 scratches but it was totally worth it. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Heidi on Feb 08, 2016go to Amazon and look for teal leather stain. It works great, suggest adding a top coat to avoid color transfer to clothing.Helpful Reply
