Easy Memo Board Project

I love, love, love shopping at junk stores. Recently I was on the lookout for a vintage washboard to use as a memo board.
Because my kitchen doesn't have good lighting, I took a picture of it on my fence. NO, I don't need a memo board outside.
Did you know that not all of the metal washboards are magnetic? I found about 6 in one day, and this was the only one that a magnet would stick to. So, if you plan to do this projet, make sure you either take a magnet with you, or find one in the store to test it.

Can you imagine how dissapointed I would have been to get home, and have wasted the time and money, only to find out that a magnet won't work?
I'm pretty sure I did a happy dance when I found this old looking metal tin box. I pre-drilled holes in it so I could attach it to the bottom of the washboard.
NO happy dance was jigged when I could only find turquoise hooks. But some Poppy paint fixed 'em up.

Have you ever made anything out of an old washboard? Was it magnetic?
