Cleaning glass top stove
I have bought all the cleaners out there for my black glass top stove, but I still can't get the shine that I want. It looks cloudy after I clean it. Any tips for cleaning a glass stovetop?

Kristen on Feb 12, 2016I saw on HSN this morning an Earth Brite demonstration on a glass stove top. It cleaned the scalded areas right off. I'm going to get some myself. They sell it on Amazon, too. The other products that I have tried don't clean the stove top very well, either.Helpful Reply

Shari on Feb 12, 2016I've had nothing but glass top stoves for more than 35 years so I've had a lot of experience with all the different ways to clean them. Hands down, THE BEST product and most effective way I have found for cleaning off burnt-on food is Carbona Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner. I used to be able to buy it locally at my grocery store or Walmart. Unfortunately though, I can't seem to find it anymore so I've ordered it from Amazon ... and paid 2x what I paid before but with is definitely worth it. From my experience though, any cook top cleaner, homemade or commercially bought, will leave a bit of a hazy film or residue after cleaning and this could be what you are describing as "cloudy." To clean that or water spots, fingerprints, smears etc., I use J.R. Watkins All Purpose Cleaner. Again, I've tried a lot of things through the years and this is, by far, my favorite. One other possible reason you may not be able to get the glass to shine is an accumulation of micro-fine scratches that inevitably happen over time. In that case, I am not aware of anything you can do to remedy that. However, you might try calling the manufacturer of your stove to see if they can recommend something to buff out scratches.Helpful Reply

Deanna.Turetski on Feb 12, 2016A good microfibre cloth will give you the shine. Use a wet microfibre cloth to clean and then to give it the shine use a dry microfibre cloth. I use a microfibre cloth for everything and buy no chemical cleaners. Also terrific for windows! Live Streak Free!Helpful Reply

Stefanie on Feb 12, 2016Baking soda with just enough water to almost make a paste. Scrub on a circular motion and the baking soda will absorb all the grease, grime, and even shine the dull spots.Helpful Reply

Goldrushgal on Feb 12, 2016If I have any problem areas on my black glass l cover the entire glass area with a cream type stove cleaner and leave it on until it is dry. Then I come later and spray with a liquid stove cleaner thoroughly wetting the glass top, next I use a paper towel to remove using a swirling motion to thoroughly loosen any cooked on bits. Next I clean off with a micro fiber towel, rinsing often and lastly I polish with a soft cloth. Sounds like a lot of work but actually takes just a few minutes once the first cleaner is dry. Have had my stove for over 3 years and looks like new. I find Affresh brand cleaner works best for me.Helpful Reply

Cheryl on Feb 12, 2016I had a cleaning business and this is how I cleaned the glass tops. First use a razor blade in a holder and scrape it at an angle to take off any high spots. Then make a paste with bar keepers friend and use a green scrubby to further clean it. Wash it off with water, spray it with a mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol (the mixture is 2parts white vinegar, 1part alcohol). Then wipe it with a soft cloth microfiber works well. It will shine. This alcohol and vinegar mixture works great on glass, mirrors and Crome.Helpful Reply
