Dining Room Makeover With Modern and Vintage Elements Combined

I'm in the middle of refinishing our 1930s table and chairs, but I decided to take a much needed break from painting to make a couple of design boards to help my husband visualize my grand design plan. I highly recommend making a design board to help see how each piece will coordinate in your room. I used Canva but Picmonkey is also free and easy to use. I like to mix modern elements with our vintage and antique furniture so that our house doesn't look like it belongs in a museum.
Here's a picture of my table and chairs. I've used General Finishes Java Gel Stain for the top which still needs to be sealed and Gf Antique White milk paint for the base and chairs. I usually don't like distressed furniture but this set was begging for some distressing to show off it's beautiful details.
I've narrowed down my rug choices to two bold patterned, navy rugs. Most of the dining room furniture is Victorian era mahogany. I think the navy will anchor the furniture and will provide a nice contrast to the light Creme Brlee walls.
Here's the other choice. Yes, it's quite bold, too! What do you think? Too bold? The rest of the room is very neutral so I think a bold pattern will work well.
I also have 2 light choices. The first is a crystal pendant chandelier...
or a drum chandelier.
Timeless blue ticking for the seat cushions and a drop cloth slipcover for the bench that sits under the window. For better pictures you can check out my blog post.
Design board for option 2.

Since you asked for opinions, I prefer the second sample board. I'd pair the thin stripe chair fabric with the bigger print rug.

I love the way you've done the table and the chairs are going to look fantastic!
    • @Maggie lloyd Thank you! I'm still working on the dining room as a whole. The color scheme has changed, but I think the overall look will be awesome...*if* I ever get it done! I'll post it when I do finish it up.
