Before+After: Boring Sideboard to Super Sophisticated Sideboard

This sideboard kind of came to me one day, honestly I'm not sure that I would have chosen this piece on my own because it looks so traditional to me and at that time I was on a mid century modern kick. But now I had this sideboard and all I wanted to do was give it a whole new look that said Hey! Look at me! I'm the standout now!
This photo gives the impression that not much was wrong with this piece, but the top was pretty scratched up and there were discolorations in various parts. Plus, it's just kind of blah :)
I completely stripped and sanded the top and I really wanted to keep this one very light looking since it's large. I decided not to do the regular dark stain on top and went with a whitewashed look and I love how it took on a beachy soft vibe.
The hardware was the icing on the cake, I found these pulls from Martell Hardware online (martellhardware.com). They are bold, modern and super sturdy to grab a hold of.
The paint is called Tranquility (isn't that just the perfect description of this color?!). The prettiest blue/green that's soft, you just want to wrap yourself up in it.
The storage space is incredible!
Went with a bold kuba cloth inspired paper from Spoonflower to line the drawers. Reading up on tradition Kuba cloth weaving is so interesting. It's intricate, abstract, and an ancient form of African cloth weaving.
This sideboard is now sold, but I'm waiting for the chance to pounce on something similar to do it all over again!
