Advice on colors for TV stand and mantle
We want it to be a beachy color so we are not sure black would do, and white would blend in to much? Any ideas?

Kayo Frazier on Feb 21, 2016Here's my 2 cents...Just my opinion, I think the beige/taupe wall color, trim & entertainment wood color are clashing w/ the color of the fireplace color. This would take a bit more work, but it would also bring in more of the beachy feel you are looking for. I would change the wall color to a very pale blue or grey. Then I paint the doors, entertainment center, mantel and trim a bright white. If you like rugs in the room, I would change them to a medium charcoal grey. If you would prefer hardwood or laminate I would go for a mahogany/cherry color which would ground the room, but also make the rest of the room brighter. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply

KatAych on Feb 21, 2016I agree with Kayo - a soft gray would look very nice. Maybe whitewash it (with gray) over the wood to echo that beach wood,"beat up" look and feel!Helpful Reply

The Bachelorette Pad Flip on Feb 21, 2016Here's an idea: whitewash the brick fireplace. Then stain the mantel a dark spice or walnut. For your TV stand, a crisp white would look great or even a distressed form of teal like your accents. Very beachy! I did a whitewash- cost less than $20 and makes a big impact! https://bachelorettepadflip.wordpress.com/2013/09/15/white-washing-tutorial/Helpful Reply

Caterina Johnston on Feb 22, 2016Maybe it's your cushions, but I think a powdery-light blue would really enliven the room with off-white walls and ceiling trim. The blue would tie in with the brown of the hearth as well as make the walls look a little taller.Helpful Reply

Harriet Jones Zimmerman on Feb 23, 2016An Annie Sloan grayish color for fireplace, then mantle done in gloss white .If the TV cabinet must stay, paint it the same as the fireplace. Maybe try the bottom course of brick in the same white. Blending in the TV stand is key to the success of the arrangement.Helpful Reply
