The other day I woke up dreaming about how to make my own Faux Gold Leaf...out of wrapping tissue! So I created this sign from an antique oak dresser panel. The dresser wasn't salvagable, but the wood certainly was! For the complete tutorial, please visit my blog @ http://countrydesignhome.com/faux-gold-leaf-its-a-sign/
This is the finished sign on my kitchen windowsill. Havent figured out where to hang it yet!
Re-stained the edges with General Finishes Antique Oak Stain.
Cut the tissue paper to the size I needed to fill the space.
Glued the paper down. For the complete DIY details, go to http://countrydesignhome.com/faux-gold-leaf-its-a-sign/
Painted the dried tissue with gold paint.
Traced out the letters using some 5" stencils.
Finished with some spray matte poly, added some hanging hardware. For the complete tutorial, please check out the blog @ http://countrydesignhome.com/faux-gold-leaf-its-a-sign/
The finishes sign literally glows in the light!
