Small Yard Makeover

When I bought my townhouse, my very first home, I was so excited! But this backyard... oh, this backyard.
I wanted a fun little fire pit area and to try my hand at gardening, but this is what I was working with (after a little grading uncovered some random border stones and pavers).
I wanted a fun little fire pit area and to try my hand at gardening, but this is what I was working with (after a little grading uncovered some random border stones and pavers).
Gross, right? Well first we had to deal with the drainage issue by adding piping at the end of the gutters and connecting it to the sewer at the opposite end of the yard.
Then, I could get started on the garden! In no time at all I had spinach, lettuce, and herbs galore!
A friend and I literally designed the firepit in the floor of the Home Depot gardening department and then bought the pavers home... The whole thing only cost $70!
After laying some sod, putting landscape fabric and gravel over the firepit area, and building some simple benches out of 4x4's and cinder blocks, I had the beautiful garden oasis I wanted... On a single school teacher's budget!
