VIntage Industrial Mailroom Tray From Roof Flashing

This project was so fun because it was using only scraps of junk I already had. Some scrap lumber and leftover roof flashing lying around in my garage. (I had used the flashing previously to make cool faux vintage locker tags: www.thekimsixfix.com/2015/04/faux-vintage-zinc-locker-baskets.html )
By cutting it down and bending it to wrap around the boards, I was able to get an industrial look on a simple wooden tray. I replicated the look of rivets by using upholstery tacks.
The entire thing cost me less than $5 and gave me the look of high end Restoration Hardware mailroom trays. I love how it came out!
The final version of the tray. I love the mixed materials! Not my typical woodworking project. (Here are some examples of the type of projects I typcially work on: http://www.thekimsixfix.com/search/label/Building%20Projects )

I pinched the metal between two boards and then pushed it over to form a 90 degree angle
Next I pounded it flat with a rubber mallet (so not to dent or scratch the steel)
The flashing was attached with upholstery tacks, to look like rivets.
