Liatris Spicata blazing star

Walter Reeves on Mar 05, 2012The roots are technically called corms. It seems a little chilly to be planting them outdoors now but you can plant them in a pot full of potting soil indoors and put in a warm window. They will have leaves and be ready to plant in early April.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Mar 06, 2012Marvin, they'll bloom for three to four weeks in summer (July/August). Check out this info from the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, which provides culture requirements and companion plant suggestions: http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/factsheets/bulbs-perennial/Liatrsp.htmHelpful Reply

Flowerscapes Garden Design & Landscaping on Mar 11, 2012I love Liatris Gay feather. There is a dwarf liatris at Saul's Nursery that is amazing. More feathery softer texture leaves and a smaller flower. Looks great with amsonia and swamp hibiscus, or flanking a Chapel Hill yellow lantana. I am trying to post pictures, but it is not working.Helpful Reply
