Southeast Solar Co on Mar 08, 2012These are solar PV powered "bricks" They look great. Unfortunately the logivity of such a product is very questionable. Under the best of circumstances, the LED lamps that are touted to last for 30,000 hours, die within about 5 years. They are sold from about $45.00 and up. You will have to make due diligence before you decide to go this routeHelpful Reply

Skyfuel Enterprises Inc. on Mar 15, 2012The solar LED landscape lights that Christina F saw on the Mike Holmes show on the HGTV network are from Skyfuel Enterprises Inc. These solar lights are manufactured using high quality LEDs from Nichia (one of the top quality LED manufacturers in the world). Unlike the cheap solar lights manufactured in China and sold through stores like Home Depot these lights do not use batteries to store the energy. The ultra-capacitor used in Skyfuel's solar lights stores the solar energy to run the lights and are rated for 100,000 cycles (1 cycle is equivalent to 1 full charge and 1 full discharge; typically 1 day). Rechargeable batteries commonly used in solar lighting have a rating of approximately 1,000 cycles (100th. the life of an ultra-capacitor). The performance of rechargeable batteries deteriorates in cold weather where ultra-capacitors function without any degradation in performance from -40F to +158F (-40C +70C). These decorative and safety outdoor lighting products are produced with a quality of performance recognized to meet or exceed the highest levels of international architectural and construction grade design. Skyfuel's solar landscape lights carry a 3 year replacement warranty. Their lights have been manufactured for over 10 years and have a failure rate of under 1%. These are not the Chinese manufactured solar lights that all of (including me) have had less than pleasurable experience with. These lights are 100% waterproof (rated IP68) and suitable for installation n ponds and fountains. Yes they will charge under water. Please visit our website at www.skyfuel.ca and our YouTube videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/g30rg3t0wn?feature=mhee. There is even a video of one of our solar lights sitting in a concrete floor and being struck with overhead swings of a carpenters hammer. Try that with any lights from the big box retail stores.Helpful Reply
