How to Turn a Laundry Closet Into a Pantry

The 2 Seasons
by The 2 Seasons
When we moved into our new to us house, we had to go from a house that had a great basement for storage, laundry, workshop, etc. to a home without a basement. It has taken some creative adjustments on our part to make all of our stuff fit. Consequently, we have taken several loads of things that we really don't need/can live without to the thrift store.
However, one of the spaces that we could not do without was a pantry. So, we decided to make our existing laundry closet which is located in the hallway beside our kitchen into a pantry and laundry room combo.
At first the closet looked like this, and then I changed the folding doors into French doors. You can read how I did that on our blog. That freed up the sides of the closet and made it easier to get to all of it. Then we purchased a stacking kit (link in blog post) and put the dryer on top of the washer. That gave us so much space that we could create a walk-in pantry on one side.
We added a custom shelving system that we planned in order to maximize the vertical square footage on the wall. There is room for all of our food and even paper products. To see more photos and read about our other DIY and decorating projects, please visit www.the2seasons.com

Where did you get the shelving? Looking to do as such in a huge laundry / pantry / misc hallway closet, but stuck on the versions of closet shelving. I really like this one though!

I mentioned to my husband just last week that I would like to stack the dryer on top of the washer, but I have never seen this done except for the smaller apartment sized appliances. I had the same vision as you: more storage space! This will be our next weekend project. Thanks for the photos, yours looks great!!
