Painting over chalkboard paint

We bought a house that one of the bedrooms has part of a lower wall painted with the paint that makes it a chalkboard. What do I need to do to paint over thsi

I would lightly sand it then hit it with a couple coats of a good Primer like kilz...Then paint away

Had previously painted my son's room with chalkboard paint, I primered it (with Kilz) and then painted over it and it looks great.
