Cultivators Design and landscape loves to re-use things and this is our version of the palette garden. We also think these would make great herb gardens or succulent gardens too!
You can check Craigslist or even post a request there. Many stores and other businesses give them away. I know we always had them piling up at the newspaper office where I used to work.
"Growing a Greener World" did an episode on green walls. They made a pallet garden. The video (as well as written step-by-step instructions) can be found here: http://www.growingagreenerworld.com/episode2...
And if you want something less biodegradable you can also "make your own" out of composit decking so what you do not need to be checking for decay. This would be for those who want permanent project. It would not be paintable so pick a color that you love.
Where are the instructions??? Are we left to just guess the whys and hows to do this? Many questions asked here and no really good answers. Will the dirt fall out? Are there fillers between levels? Seems the bottom would get awfully heavy with out some support and the dirt more compacted...harder for the plants to grow? Need more direction to simplify.
This is an excellent way to cover an unattractive garden shed. I recommend using succulents or herbs. Check out our gardening website: www.glenviewgardeners.org & please 'like' us on FB Glenview Gardeners Club
My first Pinterest/Hometalk project was to make 2 hanging pallet gardens from 2 small 3' x 3' pallets last summer. One was mixed succulents and the other was 3 vertically spaced shades of trailing ivy. Take note Girlie- Girls, if a small pallet garden is really heavy, think of how much heavier a larger one will be. All that thick wood, plants, water and soil adds up. Make sure you come ready to mix some muscle in with that pallet madness. Happy planting!
I have been wanting to go get pallets this idea and for fence idea I seen on here a couple of weeks ago. Not enough hours in a day for me or anyone who is creative.
you would pretty much do it the same way you would other plants.
We have did an herb garden before from a pallet....usually the pallets if they are treated are stamp with that. Most pallets are not treated though.
