How do you build a fire pit in your backyard that will look nice and look good?
And, be easy to build?

    Lowe's sells a kit, wedge shaped blocks and an iron ring, even if you dont buy the kit and want to use their idea, go have a look at how they do it, its a fire pit that looks great and never needs replacing

    I don't think you need the iron ring from Lowes, it will surely rust over time. I used the wedge retaining wall stones. Key here is to make it so it's stable, and won't become un-level or sink in spots over time from rain. Frosts, etc. dig down and remove soft soil, until you get to more compact stuff, I had to go 12". Put about 6 " of paver base or crush n run, and use a tamper. Keep screading filling and tamping until nice a level. Circle should be 6" wider All around than where the stones are going. This is where all the real work is, and it will pay off later. Once done, simply stack your stones, put a layer of play sand on bottom and enjoy.
