Mareline S on Mar 22, 2012The film is not visible, but the area resists water and does not shine like the rest of the sink.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Mar 26, 2012I'm a bit curious how this "grout" got in the bowl in the first place? And what type of sink this is? Metal with an enamel finish?..ceramic? a touch of acetone and some 5 "o" steel wool should do it.Helpful Reply

Mareline S on Mar 26, 2012The silicone grout was used by an amateur who made the mistake of cleaning off the tools and/or hands in the sink after grouting. Have had this issue for years even though it has been scrubbed with comet etc. over the years. GE silicone is very stubborn. I'm not sure if the sink is enameled over metal or ceramic. It came with the house which was built around 1966 and otherwise is in pristine condition. It's pink if that is a clue.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Mar 27, 2012PINK...ok are you interested in not having a pink sink? This could be the tipping point to swap it out. There are chemical cleaners designed to remove silicone caulks...you might give one of them a try . http://www.amazon.com/Mckanica-0354-SILICONE-CAULK-RMVR/dp/B000PVT1P4Helpful Reply
