Stainless Steel DIY Gone Wrong...part 2

Are you as horrified as I am at the results of the stainless steel range? If you missed my post on Friday and you are thinking about changing your appliances to stainless steel you must read Friday's post.
There is light at the end of the tunnel! This paint will come off and you will be amazed how easily it does come off. I purchased a fabulous product from Home Depot called Citristrip. It can be used indoor and outdoors and has a citrus smell and works amazingly well.

I purchased Citristrip at Home Depot and I was a little skeptical at first but what could it really hurt. The stove looked terrible and any improvement is better then leaving the stove as it.
Along with the Citristrip, I purchased rubber gloves and paper towels to protect my hands. The directions say to apply the gel onto the paint and leave on for at least half an hour up to 24 hours. The formula used to create Citristrip allows the gel to stay wet and active for up the 24 hours and doesn't need to be covered.

I applied the Citristrip to only the top of the range with a paintbrush and waited about 45 min. before trying to remove the paint. A razor blade and razor blade holder worked the best. The paint lifted completely off and didn't harm the range surface.
The seasoned area (umm, burnt area) was more of a challenge. I used the razor blade and a green scratch pad to remove the brown area. I ended up adding additional Citristrip during the scrubbing process and another wait time, but it paid off in the end. All of the paint came off!
I was overjoyed to see the end results. All of the burnt paint is gone!
I decided to leave the bottom part of the range and trim on the top stainless steel for now. After all, it still looks nice.
This goes to show, not all DIY projects turn out fabulous. Sometimes, they turn out bad, very bad. I hope you enjoyed my Stainless Steel DIY Gone Wrong posts and are aware of the complications to painting the stove top.
