Gold wooden placemats/chargers

I need help recreating these beautiful wooden plate chargers. They sell for about 70.00 per piece, and for my needs of an eight piece place setting, it is way out of my budget. Can someone please help me come up with a way to create these with maybe a different material other than wood, or with wood....just that doesn't cost me a small fortune?

MICHAELS has some wood plaques similar to these, maybe you could find round ones and paint them similarly and use them as plate chargers? :)

Most craft stores sell chargers in the metallic colors.They are usually a heavy plastic.

buy the plastic metallic chargers in a metallic color and dip lace in modpodge to attach to them or check out the paper doilies that could be painted and attached or just do your own hot glue design and paint it

Michael's carries a lot of filigree style mats made if balsa wood that can be painted to coordinate with any decor. They can be used for chargers or even as wall art.

Hey Rach, like Julies suggestion. Found the ones below at Pier one Imports but they are white and you would have to paint them. Also not as pretty as yours or the ones Julies found. Good Luck.

If you are not concerned about trying to match all 8 exactly the same, then you can try to find some serving trays (they are always in abundance at the thrift stores, usually come in silver) and you can paint them with metallic paints. They often have detailed edges. I've done some with copper metallic paint and another set with blue paint.
