Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the color blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Color theorists have long understood how color can dramatically affect moods, feelings and emotions. Interesting therapy studies have shown that:
Red was used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation, Yellow was thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body, Orange was used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels. Blue was believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain. Indigo shades were thought to alleviate skin problems.

When we bought our home all of the rooms were painted a medium beige with slightly darker beige carpeting. Boring. The kitchen and bathrooms were a dusty pea green. I'm NOT a beige person and love color. I've had the kitchen painted a lighter version of my favorite dusty blue, living room, hallway and my bedroom are painted a 'barely there' pink for light and warmth. Master bath also a slightly darker shade of the dusty blue. I left our home office the beige, but I'm planning to lighten it to a soft 'navajo white', also for light. My daughter wanted sky blue with an accent wall of mint green. The rooms are so much more comfortable for us now. The third bedroom functions exclusively as my quilt studio and it will go with a medium dusty blue and pure white woodwork. I'm a 'cottage style' home dec lover because I love the shades of blues, roses paired with pure white. Ceilings are all pure white as is the woodwork in all rooms as a unifier.

Agreed...color is essential to our well-being! Though I may admire an all-white room a la Chip and Joanna Gaines, there's nothing like my warm autumnal colors in my home to make me truly happy :)
