This is the doormat I ended with. I wanted to tie it in to the front of my house so I choose two different sample colors of paint from Home Depot and used tape to tape off the lines and "Welcome" sign.

This picture shows how I painted my doormat. The taping took some time, but painting was easy and I then coated it with two coats of polyurethane.

    I love your door!!!
I have to say also that I just took a class, or I should say that Home Depot just had a class on how to do your door mat. You showed "how to" in much more depth. they just showed us how to put it together.

Thanks Lori! I'm glad you like the door and mat! This mat was actually a sponsored Home Depot project to help bring awareness to the class you were talking about! #smallworld I'm glad you found it to be complete!

Thank you Emily! I think it's the original and the house was built in 1904. I love the design, but for insulation purposes, I do think about replacing it from time to time.
