Wood Bees
-
Kimberly Barney on May 27, 2013There is no way to keep them away. However, you should fill the holes that they leave with wood putty to assure sound structure. Sorry I know they can be a pain.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on May 27, 2013The bees are coming back to the same location due to hatching in that area. You need to kill off the larva by filling the holes with chemical dust and sealing off with wood putty. A good quality paint covering any exposed wood will stop them from re-boring into the wood. If the damage is occurring along the rake trims, (wood that runs along the edge of the roof line) the wood was not painted or was very poorly painted when it was installed. Filling those gaps between the siding and back side using a slow expanding spray foam followed with a good quality paint will do the trick. Or simply hire a pro to dust behind the boards and after several cycles of the bees coming back you will eventually kill them off. However if your neighbor also has this same issue, you will be having this issue for a long time. For damage that has already occurred you can use wood putty or we use automotive plastic filler. It dries faster and will last a long time. Sand smooth and paint.,Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on May 28, 2013Auto plastic filler is used to fix dents in autos. IT is a two part product in which you mix. The result it gets hard within 10 min or so once mixed. IT can be sanded and drilled once it fully hardens. You can find this in the paint section of most home improvement centers in qts and gallon sizes.Helpful Reply
