Jeanette on May 28, 2013I think it is a gravy separator. You pour gravy/pan droppings into it, the fat (grease) rises to the top, while the "good stuff" stays in the bottom. The pour spout on the side pours from the bottom...if that makes any sense...Helpful Reply

Sweet Inspirations by JP on May 28, 2013Hmm....Jeanette....I think that sounds like a possibility! Lori....I don't think that a shaving brush would fit the tapered opening :( Keep the guess coming and let's see who's idea gets the most "thumbs up!"Helpful Reply

Z on May 29, 2013If there's a hole at the bottom so you can pour out through the "spout" then I'm with @Jeanette . I have a modern version in plastic. Works wonderfully.Helpful Reply

Leslie D on May 30, 2013I'm going with Shaving Mug. Many mugs had tapered brush holders, which kept the brush from touching the bottom, allowing it to dry and not sit in any water that may drip off.Helpful Reply
