FAIRY GARDEN AT HAWK'S CREEK
by

While walking through our woodes one day, we found a majestic ancient tree had fallen, lying at a strange angle. I thought-- what a fantastic natural Fairy Garden
element. So, the village began...
element. So, the village began...
We hauled the tree to it's new home by the lake and Hawk's Creek Barn. The beautiful tree had a perfect tunnel leading to an opening where we built a bridge connecting the tunnel and the Fairy Village.
This shows the tunnel opening.
We made a fun door out of an old horseshoe, mini hinges and a cute knob for doorknob.
We used an old broken birdbath for the home base for the village.
I had a small birdhouse made out of historic salvage, which made the perfect Fairy House.
I made a gazing ball from an old marble and a piece of ( one of those treasures you just never throw away cause one day)... That was the day :-)
I had this cute little fence, so why not give the Fairies their own garden:-)
I made all colors of fun bugs from tumbled stones around the farm.
I love adding all sorts of characters to the village.
A friend gave me some old fence panels, which when cut and pieced together, quickly became part of the Fairy Village.
This pretty sign which I painted on an old piece of barnwood, welcomes visitors to Hominea..The name of my Fairy Village. Hominea..is an imaginary fairyland my children often visited when they were young. I have captured their fantasies in a children's book recounting their adventures.
I painted this toadstool yellow with red dots...I like the bright colors. It plays along with the sparkly colored stones in the path.
I made this bright red and white toadstool from a piece of old iron farm equipment. It is very heavy, but I like the way it adds pop to the end of the garden.
This little froggy is keeping wtach over the Fairy Village from an awesome knot hole.
