Squealing shower

KMS Woodworks on May 30, 2013So this noise is "new" in recent days / weeks and has not been a problem in the past? This sounds like a "vibration" issue in the mix valve itself. My first choice would be to pull the cartridge and lube, re-install and tighten things up. If that does not do the trick get a replacement cartridge.Helpful Reply

Vincent Plumbing on May 31, 2013Yep, call the manufacturer (be prepared to offer your receipt) - you should be able to get a repair cartridge. Sometimes they are very easy to replace - we often get calls to help out when someone cannot replace themselves.Helpful Reply

Core Plumbing San Diego on May 31, 2013Before working on the shower, you might have someone stand next to the pressure regulator while you run the squealing shower. Ocasionally, regulators will squeal when just the right volume of water is run, and the sound transmits through the piping to all areas of the house. I would recommend checking that before beginning repairs on the shower valve.Helpful Reply
