How do I get rid of this musky odor?
-
William on Apr 18, 2016I sell a lot of bags/purses on Ebay, Poshmark, amd Etsy. These are my tests. Febreze was lightly sprayed onto a paper towel. The bag's interior was gently wiped down with this paper towel. Then, newly Febreze-sprayed paper towels were placed in the bag for a few days. I found this to only mask the bag odors temporarily. My Rating: 1 out of 5 stars Coffee grinds were placed in an open napkin for several days in a purse that smelled like smoke. The bag still smelled like smoke and coffee. My Rating: 1 out of 5 stars White vinegar was mixed 50/50 with water. A paper towel was dampened with this mixed solution. The inside of the smelly bag was wiped down gently with the paper towel. This removed a portion of the smell. My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars The best odor remover that I found and recommend is Meguiar's Odor Eliminator spray .Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Apr 18, 2016Place the pocketbook in either baking soda in a plastic bag ,activated charcoal or even cat liter. Let sit long enough for the odor to absorb. I find using sprays mask the situation not fix the issue.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Apr 18, 2016To add once again using a spray will not get rid of odor. Been there and done that for .Odor eliminator sprays are just temporary fixes.Helpful Reply

Shirley Smith on Apr 19, 2016Cat litter is my go-to for this kind of odor removal. I've used it for items that got mildew on them when my basement flooded, and also rescued several books and other items that seemed beyond hope from the smoke damage when my house burned. You will need to leave it in a covered container with the litter for awhile...I would give it at least a week.Helpful Reply

Rachel Weiss-Feldman on Jul 26, 2016Try putting it in the freezer for at least a few hours. Supposedly that gets out odors from sneakers and some clothing.Helpful Reply
