Planting Bare Root Day-lilies
by

(IC: homeowner)
I had to order some day lilies online (make sure that it is a reputable seller).
Received my day lilies order, they looked very healthy and in good shape.
Once they were unpacked I soaked them in a bucket of water overnight to keep them hydrated.
This is an excellent start since it takes at least 3 days for them to arrive.
Do not divide your day lilies.
Dig a hole deep and wide enough to accommodate the roots.
Spread out the thick roots in the hole.
Place the plant so the crown (where the leaves meet the roots) is 1 below the surface of the soil.
Enjoyed the project?

Denise Anne Siler on Apr 22, 2016Luis, I totally understood that you were speaking of non established day lilies. I have ordered many plants with bare root and have soak some in a bucket of water and some not, along with dividing the plant prior to planting. No problem of them producing flowers and or multiplying. Hope the clarify the misunderstanding.
