How do you grow a dwarf fan palm from an existing plant?
-
Douglas Hunt on Apr 20, 2012Erin, I assume you are taking about a European fan palm, Chamaerops humilis. Palms are usually grown from seeds, but it will be quite a while before your palm is much to look at. If your plant is in a clump, or has suckers, it can be divided, but that is a chore. Take a look at this link, which shows what the berries look like. That's what you need. http://www.floridata.com/ref/c/cham_hum.cfm Good luck, with your palm and with your move.Helpful Reply

Erin H on Apr 20, 2012It's similar to that, but it doesn't grow up like that. It stays close to the ground. Like a bushHelpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Apr 21, 2012I'm not exactly sure which palm you have then, but it is likely those berries are seeds, and that is what you need.Helpful Reply
