Mokena Patio and Garden
by
South County Landscaping
(IC: professional)
The design intent for this project was to create a small patio that can be used as additional entertaining space as well as creating raised garden beds where our Client can grow her vegetables and herbs.
One of the important features of this design is companion planting. Our Client wanted to mix perennials with her herbs and vegetables. There are specific perennials that aid in vegetable growth and there are certain perennials that hinder vegetable growth. Just as there are certain vegetables that should be planted with other types of vegetables because they do well together.
This project had a very structured design. The Client wished to have a border around the garden (boxwoods) as well as pathways through the garden. The pathways were constructed using a crushed granite material.
