I want to give this mirror a new look

Lyn on Apr 24, 2016Paint it? Or, where the top of your I pad/camera is, use that as a line, and cut straight across from one corner to the other, (removing the top piece would straighten the line, and removing the swirly pattern) Or...Maybe you could attach it to a bathroom medicine cabinet shape (only to the scale of the mirror,) and turn it into a mirror/ jewellery cabinet. Or...maybe remove the finial to finial piece, width wise, put hooks on it and use it to hang a painting or keys? My last idea, would be to discard the mirror, and use the remaining wood frame and turn it into a headboard for a "Beauty and the Beast" children's theme room. The wall behind the now mirror -less frame, could be painted a different (yet complimentary colour) than the rest of the room. Or you could wrap fibre-fill over plywood, cover that with fabric, and attach the "headboard" around the perimeter :)Helpful Reply

Janet koons on Apr 25, 2016Delete those 'legs' at the bottom; go get some furniture appliques of your choice. I prefer the flexible kind. They are glued on with a good glue, like Dap glue. Cover the edges of the mirror (I use index cards all around the outside edges of the mirror and underneath the wood frame.) and after wiping the wood clean, paint with your choice of chalk paint (I used Annie Sloan) and wax it up. If you want, artistically top off with some artisan paint paste with your finger. That does not have to be perfect and in fact, it's not supposed to be - just some highlights over the appliques that you have painted when you painted the wooden frame. You can't go wrong. It will be beautiful! I LOVE doing mirrors. My fav!!! Best wishes and have fun.Helpful Reply

Michele Hall Parrish on May 02, 2016I'd remove the legs and gold or silver leaf it. you can buy simulated gold leaf kits at local craft stores. I'd paint the recessed area at the top black to match your sofa or mask off and leave plain dark wood to match your wall moldings.Helpful Reply

Cindi on May 03, 2016I'd get rid of the legs, and mosaic the cutback area with bright colored glass. You could also etch a design in the top middle section of the mirror. It would still be a 70s mirror, but with style.Helpful Reply
