What should I do with this blank area on my kitchen wall?

We removed a cupboard that was stood on the worktop, and behind it wasn't tiled, we can't get the original tiles, and if don't really want to remove the other tiles in the kitchen as there are electrical sockets on top of the tiles, so we would like ideas to cover this area, and be able to keep the workspace, as I don't have a lot. Thanks.
This area is what we want covering

I would try to get tile as close as possible to the original. If nothing is available I would get some decorative tiles as a focal point. You could mount some narrow shelves( 1" x 4" ) on the wall in the "L" and display some decorative kitchen type items. You still would have a work area.

"I would get some decorative tiles as a focal point." I like that idea.

You could also add glass tiles to offset the white based on your color scheme.

Are the white tiles subway tiles(rectangular)? or square. Subway tiles are very common and you should be able to find a match. If you can't find a match, rather than find something that is close, I would go the other way and use something very different. You could use sheet metal and use the area for a spice storage. Put magnets on the back of spice bottles. You might have to take off a few tiles on the right to get a straight line.

They are a square tile divided into smaller squares, that sounds like a good idea, will look into that thanks

white tiles like that might even be found in a local home depot. Bigger cities will have a lot of tile stores - some might even be able to order it for you if you take a piece in for them to look at.

We had this problem in a bathroom. The shower was done in 4" hexagon tiles that were no longer made. We found tile sheets with hexagon shapes with the color of the existing tiles and a few more neutral colors. It looks amazing! You might want to try something like that.

Put stainless steel on the walls and use this area for food prep. Such as put your stand mixer there. Coffee pot maybe, make it the coffee station. Stainless steel looks clean, and is easy to keep clean. Hope this suggestion inspires you!

This product comes in many different colors and might be an option. I like the idea of making it a contrast color... Good luck. Hope to see follow up photos. :) http://www.homedepot.com/p/Fasade-24-in-x-18-in-Traditional-4-PVC-Decorative-Backsplash-Panel-in-Moonstone-Copper-B51-18/202863721

Automat (translátor) to nechce přeložit, takže sorry.

Stainless steel or corrugated metal framed in with molding would go well with your blue and white.

Like Connie Smith's idea and another idea for something similar would be metal ceiling tiles.

Clean up the dry wall and paint it--- is the least expensive way to go even if you must change the color of paint. Another suggestion would be bead board.

You could build a shallow spice cabinet in the corner. What is the appliance ? Put it on a stand. The tile should be replaceable. The tile comes in sheets at big box stores. Recently I remodeled a bath. Couldn't match my existing tile. My contracter convinced me it didn't need to be the exact color. It looks great.

Hi, it's a microwave, we sort of have a plan to build a shelving unit for the corner, then paper and paint were the unit isn't going to cover, but do it so that I still have some worktop space as well.

Hi again. Ok, this is simple. you need to remove the cut existing tile to a full tile. I would find the closest matching tile possible and build the cabinet for the microwave like you mentioned. I think once you put it together you will not notice the patch. If you could post more pictures of the area in your kitchen it would help. I don't understand the missing tile under the existing tile. The space where the microwave will be, is there enough tile to remove and use for the patching? Also, you could build a shelf under the microwave to cover more of the space and still have counter space. http://cdn.hometalk.com/media/2016/01/14/3176281/how-to-paint-kitchen-cabinets-without-sanding-or-priming-how-to-kitchen-cabinets-kitchen-design.jpg?size=134x134 On this site you will see a similar shelf unit I am trying to explain.
