What herbicide will kill lirope in a fescue lawn?
to be effective.

Walter Reeves on Apr 26, 2012Liriope is in the lily family but you're right that Weed B Gon won't hurt it much. Glyphosate painted onto the leaves is the only thing I've found to selectively get it out of a lawn.Helpful Reply

Debi M on Apr 26, 2012Instead of killing it, if there isn't too much of it, why not dig it up and place it where you can enjoy it or give it to a neighbor. It does make a nice borderHelpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Apr 28, 2012I think those are your two options, EC. Paint the leaves with glyphosate, or pull them out by hand.Helpful Reply

Kat Bettz on May 04, 2012Try straight vinegar, or mix 3 1lb boxes of salt into a little boiled water to dissolve the salt, then add mix to a 1 or 2 gallon watering can (or sprayer), add a 1/4 cup of dish soap mix up & water/spray them with it. It works on poison ivy, maybe it will work on that.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jun 30, 2012I have the same problem. I have Zoysia Emerald Green so I just spot spray what I need. I spray an area between the grass and the border grass every hear. This year I am going to trim it back before the berries to reseed it develop. That will seriously cut down on my spreading problem!Helpful Reply

Gonfshn77302 on Apr 14, 2015I love my liriope. I planted 2 pots of it 8 yrs ago around my koi pond. Between it and the white jasmine vines I can't find a patch of soil anymore even if I wanted to. I can see where it could be considered invasive if it wasn't wanted and it is indestructible. It's also really pretty when it blooms and the berries are a nice contrast to all the green. I 'edge' it weekly, for lack of a better word and it's never come up outside the area I carve out for it.Helpful Reply

Tina Hill on Sep 13, 2015Vinegar will kill just about everything and if you soak the ground nothing will grow there for quite a while , so you need to be very careful if you are using it to kill unwanted plants that are near wanted plants .... but it will not harm the environment or you , your kids , and your pets, and wildlife like weed be gone and round-up do . chemical weed killers are carcinogenic and hormone disruptors and have been positively linked to birth defects and brain and other cancers and may be responsible for a multiple of disorders , such as precocious puberty and autism. round up has been so extensively that it is in your body RIGHT NOW and when it rains it falls in the rain , plus it is being genetically engineered in to plants that are in our food chain .... Always say No To GMOS !Helpful Reply
