Plumbing 101....1/2 You Don't Always Have To "Go With The Flow"

I found this vintage porcelain sink on line, and knew it would make a fun, whimsical sink for a small bathroom.
I started out with a wood spool. I measured where the sink would go, then cut it straight across the back top and bottom so it would fit flush to the wall and sanded the whole piece. It was a little short, so I added large round bun feet to the bottom. They are a little hard to see in this picture, but they are there!
Next, I chose colors that were fun and would compliment the sink. Yellow, Blue, Red and Green. I hand painted the lily pod to mimic the sink. I think I used 6 coats of polyurethane on top to make it water proof. For the trim, I used a large round wood needle point frame, cut to fit. I painted it with black hammered paint by Rustoleum and it made it look like metal! Then I used tack nails to accent. I also painted the feet black.
I added 2 metal shelf rims underneath the top for whimsy and they can also hold a hand towel. The red and gold jewel accents are shower curtain hooks I found at a thrift store. I cut off most of the metal rings and these hide the holes that were in the wood spool. I also used liquid nails to hold them down. There was already a hole in the middle an on the back, so I hooked up my plumbing.
I found the bamboo faucet on line. I got lucky and the hole was right where I needed it! And there you have it. Thanks for lookin' :)

Suzette on Jun 06, 2016@Bernice H Oh Bernice, I'm so excited! I just made a couple backgammon side tables and I sold one to Lee Tannen. He was very good friends with Lucille Ball and has written a book, "I Loved Lucy" and he's also has a play by the same name. His play performed in London all of February, and now it will be in NYC. The table I made will be center stage as he and Lucy played backgammon almost every day! Now, fans of his saw him on my facebook business page and I have orders!!! hehehhehe :) I have this table posted on hometalk also. :) There's more too!
