Should we enhance this window-turned-frame or leave it as is?

Ali Kay on May 03, 2016I just left this info on another post, but it could work for yours too. It's beautiful as it is, but if you wanted it to give it a subtle pop, I can suggest modern masters paint effects paint line. They have some beautiful finishes like green patina, aged brass, rust, blue patina.... maybe one of those would be nice. Personally, I think the patina would look great...maybe with the off white. I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby for $20. Check out some examples in google image search for the different finishes available. I love this product- it's really neat!Helpful Reply

Lagree Wyndham on May 03, 2016JMO, leave it alone. You can't improve on perfection. Not everything needs up-cycled or painted. To paint it would be like using whiteout in a novel, you would be erasing the the story that it tellsHelpful Reply

Ann on May 03, 2016I agree with Lagree; however, since it seems you want to give it a little light touch of something, maybe you might want to try this, from my Pinit Craft Collection: (Hope this helps, and you would want to put a protective finish on it anyway.) Have you tried aging dust over your wax yet? It adds even more depth to your finished piece. shizzle-design.co...Helpful Reply

Cindi on May 03, 2016I think it's a beautiful picture and frame, because it's all original, so I'd keep it original. Even the brown color of the frame works well with the colors in the picture. I agree with the others.......leave it just as it is.Helpful Reply

Teresa on May 03, 2016I think you could away use a little natural wax to seal it or a furniture oil but both will darken the wood for a time but protect the wood too.Helpful Reply

Johnchip on May 04, 2016It won't hurt to bees wax and buff it down. It will make it look nourished, not so dry and give a bit of a softened glow. Try on a side spot to make sure you are satisfied. Use a clear not tinted true bees wax.Helpful Reply

Teresa on May 04, 2016Hi, Well natural wax is more of a top coating and can go on metal and wood. I did some more research and found this site and I kind of trust the antique roadshow for there advice. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/tips/woodfinish.htmlHelpful Reply
