DIY bookcase tutorial.
Supplies.
The before picture!
I took a flathead screw driver and wedged it into the backing of the bookcase, prying it off.
I didn't want to use 4 or 5 coats of paint to cover this dark bookcase so I used Zinger primer as a base coat.
After the Zinger primer.
I used Annie Sloan's "Pure White" Chalk paint and painted 2 coats.
I bought some cedar planks at Home Depot for about $2 each! Can't beat that price!
White wash using 1 part water with 1 part white paint.
Next I wanted to add some depth and color so I dry brushed this teal and gray onto the planks to give it a driftwood look.
Using a drill and wood screws, drill the planks to the back of the bookcase.
Using Annie Sloan's Clear Wax, I sealed the entire bookcase.
